Raquira and Candelaria del Desierto

On Tuesday I went to Raquira, a small artisan town specializing in pottery. It was interesting to see the kilns, and the various art, nice central plaza, interesting colors, etc... After a short while however, I decided to go to the Candelaria del Desierto which is a monastery in the Desert. I asked a local man how long of a walk, and when he told me 45 minutes I headed off. 2 hours later, I ran into him at his house on the road there, and realized I should have waited the 30 minutes for the Collective taxi to leave.

In any case, we had a drink at his house, and I continued on(see picture) The walk had great views of Raquira and the neighboring farms. Once I arrived, I was starving and was told to knock on a random wooden door which was supposed to be a restaurant. I had the place to myself, and took a picture of the courtyard. The food was excellent, and I took a short nap there next to the stream. After waking up, I went to the monastery where I received a tour, once again, by myself. It was interesting to hear about how the monks used to live, and admire some of the things in the museum, which included 400 year old furniture, 300 year old bibles, and an old Victrola and Apple computer. It was a very relaxing day.

Who is pluto? Let me know who you are. And mom, thanks for sticking up for me. Even thousands of miles away, and online, you still manage to look out for me.
Thanks for the comments. I enjoy reading them.
Hi Christoph!
Pluto here, I am a Golden Retriever. Your website would be even more interesting if you had a few pics of the local dogs in the towns you're visiting.
I look forward to keeping track of your trip.
Sincerely,
Pluto
Alright Mr. Golden Retriever. Have I met you in the past? If not, welcome. I do have pictures of local dogs, though I would like to understand who you are before I post them. Otherwise, I will post some in the future, when I take more pics.
Take care
Christoph
I wasn't going to mention this but I just have to... hee, hee.
How great is it that Mams agrees that we both are dorks. Notice how she said I too (Pluto) am also a dork (meaning in addition to you!!!!). Ha. Ha.
I look forward to seeing pics of the Columbian dogs.
Pluto is just jealous because he has no life and sits at home alone in the dark writing random comments on people's blogs, because he has no friends to talk to.

Does Brian have something against Golden Retrievers? I’m just trying to see the world without actually leaving my 9’ fenced in backyard. Throw a dog a bone….geez
P.S. I have many friends. Remember I am mans best friend! I'm like a Hollywood Superstar in my neck of the woods!!
This is sort of fun. I forgot to take a picture of a little rat dog avoiding a German Shepherd. That was quite amusing, as the German Shepherd was not very sly about the whole thing. And yes, my mom will not disagree that I am a dork. In fact, when you used the term ¨mams¨it made me thing you could be my sister. How about a hint on who you are, or are you truly random. If so, I suppose it would by hypocritical to not welcome you to my ¨random¨adventure.
Later
Awwww man... wish you would have taken the pic of the dogs. Would have liked it!
Well a hint about who I am & how we are linked... this is a 6 Degrees situation. We know mutual people. You've probably heard about me through our common friends, as I have heard of you through these common friends. Our 1 friend you have known for years, and our other friend you have met & know of.
So I am not a random person... hee, hee I mean dog.
: )
